All things busy!
The last three weeks have flown by in a flurry of emails, phone calls and even communication via the good old postal system!
A trickle of baking orders has given me the time to sit down and organise!
Talking of baking, it’s been an interesting month! I have had requests for everything from a power-packed granola traybake for a busy gardener to a dairy and gluten-free 50th birthday cake. Along with the more traditional bakes, there’s been a lot of variety in the baking going on in my kitchen.
As to the organising, with guidance and patience from my friend Karen, I can confidently say that I have been very proactive in making myself more visible on Facebook and my website, and I’m off to Bristol for an Instagram for Business session with Naturally Social in March. You can already find me on Instagram here.
I’ve booked pitches at food festivals in spring, autumn and December, and have been accepted for a pitch at the Bath and West Christmas Shopping Show. I think that’s going to be a lot of baking!
Back to baking news. As February comes to a close, my attention is turning to the new cake for the month of March. At this time of year, many of us will be looking at those bright shiny Seville oranges arriving in the supermarkets, which are perfect for marmalade-making. Horrible to eat, but so good for that sweet but tangy preserve that graces our breakfast table. I’ve already made one batch, which will be perfect for my March marmalade cake. It’s a traybake cake packed with sultanas and currants, with that all-important orange marmalade providing a delicious twist. And not forgetting the crunchy brown sugar topping that makes this a perfect comfort cake.
Maybe if you’ve been doing Sugar Free February this will hit the spot for a sweet treat now that March is just round the corner!
Here at A Piece of Cake by Bev I’m looking forward to spring and Easter. I’ll be back again next month with a new cake and more news. In the meantime, contact me on 07392 335443 to place an order or discuss any special requests.
